I’m fascinated by what Stephen Jay Gould once called the “odd disconnect between science and society.” We live in a country in which a large portion of the public dismisses basic scientific principles, and the gulf between the practice of science and the public’s understanding of it seems to continually widen.

With a background in molecular toxicology and science reporting, my work explores the cultural implications of scientific knowledge for taboo topics like human sexuality and recreational drug use, and how societies negotiate meaning from science and morality.
